the History Lesson

Happy Friday the 13th!! Before you begin your weekend festivities I'd like to point you to a five page sample from the upcoming Secret Files of the 19XX that you are right now helping to support! There is of course a lot of history in the Adventures of the 19XX series along with alternate history and epic machines so I wanted to shine a light on why history is important to all of us! Enjoy the preview or just look at the pretty pictures if you want to save it for when you have the final printed version in your hands that you helped create!

FELLOW TRAVELERS!

THE BEAN
When you do as many conventions as I do and have as many friends who are also creators you inevitably end up running kickstarters at the same time. One of these is for the webcomic, the Bean, and I have actually created a piece of art based on a couple of the characters from his comic. Here is my art below! Travis and I thought it would be fun to draw each other's characters in our own styles. Stay tuned for his artwork! If you get a chance, be sure and check out his campaign, it is a great all ages fantasy done with fantastic line work!

LOST WOODS
Also funding right now is a board game with art created by my brother in law Mike! Mike works over at Zynga games during the day and so he's no stranger to the gaming world. If you get a chance you should check out the Lost Woods game that is funding for a few more days. I backed for a copy!

So that's it for today's update!
Thanks for letting me share some projects with you and I hope you enjoy the free preview of the Secret Files!

HOW TO GET AN ADD ON
Add ons are a great way to help the project and customize your pledge level!
1. Look at the Add On chart on the main page and note the price of the item.
2. Click on the green manage my pledge button at the top of the page.

3. On the next page you just add the Add On amount to your total. Leave your pledge level the same as you selected before and click the enter button at the bottom of the page.

4. At the end of the campaign I'll send you a survey asking you a couple questions, including your address!

That's it!

Thanks for your support!!

about 9 years ago – Wed, Feb 11, 2015 at 10:07:29 AM

We got our 200th backer today and that means I have bravely entered some information into a random number generator and gotten the results of the signed Frakes & Fillion print winner!

The answer is, Backer #38, David from the UK!
When the project gets funded and all the pledges go out, you will be receiving an additional package containing your new print!

Stay tuned for an announcement in the next couple days about another signed print I will be giving away! I'll give you a hint, Excelsior!!!!

Now I will say my goodbyes to the Frakes and Fillion print! Thanks for sharing the project and keep your fingers crossed for the next print!!

New signed print!
about 9 years ago – Wed, Feb 11, 2015 at 10:07:13 AM

I have one more signed print from the vault to give away.
In an attempt to pay you guys back for helping to share the project I'm giving away this print I created a while back for the Comikaze Convention for Stan Lee.
I had him sign a couple for me and this is my last one!
The print is 13x19 and is on archival paper.

When the project reaches 250 backers I will choose a random backer to get this signed print!

Thanks for all your support!!!

When we get to 200 backers someone gets a signed print!
about 9 years ago – Sat, Jan 31, 2015 at 11:19:45 AM

We are almost to the halfway point but I still need your help to keep the series going.

 1. Go and claim a book for yourself! This is the best way to help and make sure you get a copy of Shining Skull: 1936. We are about halfway to the funds we need to print the book.

2. If you can, share the project with anyone who will listen! http://kck.st/1BxmjS8

To give you guys a reason to share, I am offering an Art print signed by Jonathan Frakes and Nathan Fillian!

When we get to 200 backers I am going to randomly pick a backer to receive this autographed print drawn by me to be included in their existing pledge level! You can read more about this print and how I obtained these signatures at the bottom of this update. But that's where I need your help! Spread the word and let people know, so that we can get to 200. The signed print will go to a randomly chosen backer who has selected a pledge level. And don't worry, I have another print signed by a legend in the comic book world that will be given away when we get to 300 backers!

This is Lauren, Me, Fillion, and Frakes on the set of Castle!

The Captains-Frakes vs. Fillian Signed by Jonathan Frakes of Star Trek the Next Generation and Nathan Fillian of Firefly. The captain of the USS Titan and the captain of the Serenity face off in this print I created after being on the set of Castle last year. Frakes was directing an episode of the series taking place at a comic convention when Lauren and I were invited to be on set because of the 19XX series. We were there three days and had a lot of great talks with the cast and crew. Below is a picture from the set. During those days of filming I produced this print and had a copy signed by both Frakes and Fillion!

Thank you! -Paul Roman Martinez
